Introduction 
There are terrible consequences of climate change for the planet and all human endeavors. According to statistics provided by the Bureau of Social and Economic Affairs which indicate the rate of increase in global human population is frightening; by 2050 (Rebello et al., 2010), the population is expected to surpass 9.8 billion people. Thus, throughout the course of 30 years from now, the community will encounter several issues that will threaten the survival of the majority of living things on Earth. These issues include the shortage of energy, global warming, greenhouse effects, poisonous gas emissions, and abrupt changes in the environment. The usage of natural fuels as our primary source of energy has raised issues in international scientific organizations, which are working to address one of the key causes of these problems (Zhu et al., 2016). The one method to address the issue is to find an environmentally sustainable fossil fuel replacement that can meet the world’s expanding energy needs (Dincer et al., 2000). Biofuels are one of the viable options and it is an alternative to fossil fuels since they are affordable and harmless to the surroundings (Ma et al., 2014). Various countries around the world are utilizing them to partially substitute the consumption of natural fuels. For example, Brazil uses sugarcane, while parts of Asia and Europe primarily rely on palm oil for production. In the case of biofuels made from microalgae, the United States, Brazil, China, and Japan are the biggest producers. Currently, biofuel generation predominantly relies on three distinct generations of raw organic resources, as outlined by Zhu et al. (2016) and Brennan et al. (2016). These groups represent different sources and technologies utilized to produce biofuels on a global scale. Biofuels classified as first-generation are those derived from feedstocks that are suitable for human intake, such as wheat, sugarcane, maize, palm oil, and sugar beet. Biofuels classified as secondgeneration are derived from lignin and cellulosic feedstock, which consists of non-food crop portions including husks, stems, and leaves that are often thrown away (Kalnes et al., 2007 ; Naik et al., 2010 ; Zhu et al., 2016). However, these biofuel sources can partially fulfill the world’s energy demands. One method to overcome this limitation involves third-generation biofuels, which are generated by cultivating single-celled photosynthetic microorganisms capable of converting carbon dioxide and sunlight into biomass and lipid molecules used in biofuel production (Abomohra et al., 2017).

Introduction 
The creation of molecular-scale machinery and gadgets at a few nanometers (10^-9 m), known as nanotechnology, has a substantial impact on this topic and dramatically reduces the size of a cell. To assess how nanoparticles affect the synthesis and production of biofuels, particularly biodiesels, a variety of nanomaterials, including nanofibers, nanotubes, and nanometals, are being used (1). Research on biodiesel has shown that utilizing nanotechnology and nanomaterials can be a useful approach to implementing low-cost techniques that improve manufacturing quality. Because of their tiny size and special qualities, such as a high surface area-to-volume ratio, catalytic activity, considerable crystallinity, adsorption capacity, and stability, nanoparticles (NPs) are useful in the generation of biodiesel (2). Because of their high potential recovery properties, metal oxide nanoparticles and carbon nanotubes are frequently used as nanocatalysts in the synthesis of biofuel and biodiesel (3, 4).This chapter critically evaluates the application of nanotechnology in the manufacturing and enhancement of biodiesel, addressing key challenges and potential advancements. Microalgae have been identified as a potentially useful feedstock for biodiesel production. The process of harvesting microalgae can be made much more efficient by employing a range of nanoparticles. Additionally, cost-cutting is facilitated by the recycling of nanomaterials and their incorporation into procedures including cell disruption, extraction, and harvesting. Furthermore, an array of nanocatalysts holds promise for enhancing the efficiency of biodiesel conversion (5). Classification of nanoparticles based on physical attributes as shown in (Fig.1). However, there is a growing emphasis on improving combustion efficiency and reducing harmful emissions in the engine industry and its associated fields. Several studies indicate that the introduction of nanoadditives into blends of diesel and biodiesel fuels has yielded significant results.

1. Introduction 
The Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) of nanotechnology-based microalgal biodiesel explores the intersection of nanotechnology and renewable energy production, aiming to assess the economic feasibility and sustainability of integrating nanomaterials into the microalgal biodiesel production process (BlancoCanqui, 2010). As the global demand for sustainable energy sources continues to rise, microalgae have emerged as a promising feedstock for biodiesel production due to their high lipid content and rapid growth rates. Nanotechnology offers innovative solutions to enhance various stages of the microalgal biodiesel production chain, from cultivation and harvesting to lipid extraction and conversion (Moustakas et al., 2020).This introduction provides an overview of the key objectives, methodologies, and implications of conducting a TEA on nanotechnology-based microalgal biodiesel. It outlines the significance of integrating nanomaterials into biodiesel production processes, highlights the potential benefits and challenges associated with nanotechnology adoption, and sets the stage for the subsequent analysis of economic factors and technical considerations (Borowitzka and Moheimani, 2013).The introduction also discusses the broader context of sustainable energy transition and the role of microalgal biodiesel as a renewable alternative to conventional fossil fuels (Gaurav et al., 2017). It emphasizes the importance of evaluating not only the technical feasibility but also the economic viability and environmental sustainability of nanotechnology-enabled biodiesel production methods. By conducting a comprehensive TEA, this study aims to provide valuable insights into the cost-effectiveness, scalability, and market potential of nanotechnology-based microalgal biodiesel, informing strategic decision-making and investment priorities in the renewable energy sector (Gouveia and Oliveira, 2009; McCollum et al., 2018). Through interdisciplinary collaboration and rigorous analysis, the TEA seeks to advance our understanding of the economic and technological factors shaping the future of sustainable biofuel production.

Water budgeting
Allocation of the water receipt including anticipated within the crop period and its detailed account of expenditure for efficient and profitable farm management is called as water budgeting.
Water budgeting may be for an irrigation system planned by irrigation engineers; may be for a canal or for an area (block) or may be for a farm according to the need and plan by responsible persons who plan the irrigation efficiency.

Irrigation scheduling is defined as frequency with which water is to be applied based on needs of the crop and nature of the soil.
Irrigation scheduling is nothing but number of irrigations & their frequency required to meet the crop water requirement.

Introduction
India is the seventh largest having 329.73 million ha of geographical area and second most populous country having more than a billion population in the world. There is no other substitute other than to use every square inch of land and every drop of water effectively and efficiently. Though there was markedly increase in annual food grain production from 51 (1950-51) million tones t0 206 million tones (2000-01), still the death on hunger is visualized.
The demand for food is increasing with ever-increasing population growth rate. So there is no option other than to increase food production. There is very little or no scope of horizontal expansion due to land limitation, the question of vertical expansion is the only way to fit with the situation. Genetically improved crop variety, hybrids, mechanized agriculture, higher rate of fertilizers and chemicals application may give one or two more green revolution, but the question lies how far it can sustain greenness?
Adoption of improved crop cultivars, cropping system, increasing cropping intensities, precision farming can hold good to get out of this situation where whole system is to be considered.
The cropping intensities in the states like Assam, Bihar, MP, Orissa, UP and West Bengal are 137.7, 137.8, 125.6, 154.6, 148.6 and 159.6 percent, respectively (FAI,1994-95). This indicated that a vast majority of lands remain fallow during dry season due to lack of proper technologies, which are under rainfed conditions, neglected. Except West Bengal, more than half of the arable land remains fallow during rainless period. Increasing cropping intensities in rainfed uplands is not easily achievable but there is great potential of intensification of cropping in rainfed lowland by utilizing natural resources and conserved residual moisture. Pulses like black gram, green gram, lentil, lathyrus, chick pea and oilseeds like linseed, groundnut, rapeseed could not only increase the cropping intensities but also come forward to increase national productivity.

Introduction
Surface irrigation is the distribution of water using open canals in which water flows by gravity. This type of irrigation, which includes flood irrigation, requires relatively flat fields and deep soils.
A good irrigation will ensure a uniform and homogenous distribution of water in small and regular doses. The status of moisture in the soil also aims at maintaining the relative humidity in a plot at a stable level, to limit the development of weeds and pathogens. Irrigation is also used to avoid the transmission of phyto-sanitary problems or the leaching of pesticides.
The volumes of water to apply depend on the climatic conditions, the frequencies of the applications, the soil type and the irrigation method. The choice must take into account the efficiency of each method, the water availability, the installation and running costs, the maintenance needs, the spatial requirements and whether it’s possible to work while the field is irrigated.

The growing demand for fossil fuels around the world and their extensive use, which degrades the environment, have been serious issues. More precisely, it is predicted that global energy consumption will rise by 49% between 2007 and 2035 due to social pressure, population growth, and economic expansion (Cheah et al., 2016; Prasad et al., 2016). In order to replace fossil fuels, alternative energy resources must be developed, according to energy security and environmental sustainability. The most promising bio-fuel among the alternatives to gasoline is bio-ethanol, which can be used as the only fuel in compatible automobile engines or blended with gasoline up to 30% without requiring engine changes (Safarian and Unnthorsson, 2018). Bio-ethanol has a higher-octane number, which enables engines to run at high compression ratios, and a high oxygen content, which improves combustion efficiency (Branco et al., 2019). Grain, sugar beets, corn, and sugarcane could all be used to make bio-ethanol. Together, Brazil and the United States account for over 90% of the world’s bio-ethanol production, with 59% and 27% coming from each country, respectively (Branco et al., 2019).The Policy Energy Act and Energy Independence and Security Act, which aim to consume 136 billion gallons of bio-ethanol by 2022, are the main drivers of the USA’s remarkably high production rate (Menon and Rao, 2012; Tran et al., 2019). Unfortunately, the world’s food security is now in jeopardy due to the manufacture of bio-ethanol from the aforementioned edible energy crops. For the synthesis of bio-ethanol, lignocellulosic biomass-such as agricultural residues, forest woody residues, micro-algae, and even municipal solid waste is consequently a more advantageous source. Cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin make up the lignocellulosic complex structure. While hemicellulose is in charge of binding and 88 | Biofuels Production Using Sustainable Bioprocessing Technologies lignin guarantees the toughness of the entire stricture, cellulose, a polymer made of glucose, gives plants structural support (Kumar et al., 2016; Prasad et al., 2016). According to Tran et al. (2019), pre-treatment is a crucial step in order to: (i) increase the amorphous area to facilitate hydrolysis; (ii) improve the porosity of the porous matrix to facilitate enzymatic and chemical hydrolysis; and (iii) separate cellulose from lignin and hemicellulose. The majority of the most successful pre-treatment techniques now in use are physio-chemical and chemical techniques, which also produce harmful compounds such furfural (Liyamen and Ricke, 2012). Other techniques are also used, each with advantages and disadvantages. For example, biological pre-treatment is environmentally benign but does not generate large amounts of material. Compared to the thermochemical approach, the biochemical conversion process performed better and was more ecologically friendly (Mu et al., 2010; Liyamen and Ricke, 2012; Kumar et al., 2019). It should be mentioned that the pre-treatment cost should also include the expense of detoxifying harmful inhibitors, which are created as a result of the pre-treatment technique (Liyamen and Ricke, 2012). All things considered, a successful pre-treatment ought to be both financially and environmentally responsible. It’s also critical to make sure that other advantageous aspect like maximum energy savings, waste and wastewater recycling, material recovery, and the use of a biorefinery method are taken into account throughout the lignocellulosic bioethanol production process (Kumar et al., 2019). A major challenge facing the world today is making the transition to a sustainable and resource-efficient economy, especially considering climate change, resource depletion, and rising waste production. The idea of a circular economy has drawn a lot of attention in this setting. In contrast to the conventional linear economic paradigm of “take-make-dispose,” the circular economy prioritizes closed-loop solutions that reduce waste and environmental impact by reusing, recycling, and regenerating resources. The efficient use of biomass as a plentiful and renewable resource to produce biofuels, biochemicals, and bio-based products is a crucial part of this circular framework. The combination of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, known as lignocellulosic biomass, is one of the most widely available and sustainable types of feedstocks for biomass. Originating from forestry byproducts, specific energy crops, and agricultural residues like corn stover and wheat straw, lignocellulosic biomass is a feasible substitute for raw materials derived from fossil fuels [1]. By minimizing reliance on non-renewable resources and supporting sustainable waste management, its conversion through biorefineries into a wide range of bio-based goods is fully in line with the concepts of the circular economy [2]. Integrated systems known as lignocellulosic biorefineries maximize resource efficiency and reduce environmental impact by converting all the components of biomass into marketable products. The production of biofuels (such as bioethanol and biodiesel), platform chemicals, bioplastics, and energy by these biorefineries greatly aids in the creation of renewable energy and sustainable industrial processes [3]. Biorefineries can maximize the utilization of biomass feedstocks by converting them into high-value products while upholding zero-waste principles by utilizing a variety of biochemical and thermochemical conversion processes [4]. A summation of the function of lignocellulosic biorefineries in promoting the circular economy is given in this chapter. The first section covers the current developments in pretreatment and conversion methods as well as the composition of lignocellulosic biomass. By incorporating these technologies into biorefinery systems, waste valorization and energy efficiency issues can be resolved, and biobased goods can be produced more effectively. This chapter also examines the prospects and problems faced by lignocellulosic biorefineries, looking at their technological, economic, and regulatory elements as well as how they might help with the worldwide transition to a circular bioeconomy.

Introduction 
Fossils fuel resources are crucial for producing and distributing other goods, making them one of the most important global commodities. Fossil fuels account for more than 75% of total energy consumption in society. It is critical to recognize that the fossil energy problem and anthropogenic climate change problem are inextricably linked and must be addressed as two intertwined challenges requiring a comprehensive solution. The features of coal, oil and gas which are employed as fossil fuels for power generation, have different classification of characteristics (Shindell & Smith, 2019). Fossil fuels are natural fuels and derived from the decompositions, heating and pressurization, of buries phytoplankton (plants) and zooplankton (animals). Over time, these waste materials get decomposed to produce carbon rich deposits that are now used to create energy products (Holechek et al., 2022). They are essential for the synthesis of steel and polymers in addition to energy. Fossil fuels fall into three main categories: coal, oil, and natural gas (Singh et al., 2023). Biofuels are produced from plants and animals waste materials and considered as a renewable source of energy. The sources are key components to overcome the issues related to greenhouse gas emission. Due to rapid change in climatic conditions, demand of renewable energy sources has increased. There are some drawbacks for fossil fuels due to presence of high carbon footprints and environmental impacts. On the other way, biofuels offer two major benefits first they reduce carbon emissions and modify waste management method, the other paving the way for a sustainable future. The carbon neutrality of biofuels is among their most alluring features. Biofuels only release the carbon dioxide that plants consume during growth, as opposed to fossil fuels that release old, stored carbon into the atmosphere. They are an eco-friendly choice because of this balance(Jeswani et al., 2020). Bioethanol, biodiesel, and biogas are among the several types of biofuels(Esmaeili & Tamjidi, 2021). Bioethanol is used in transportation and produced by using crops like corn and sugarcane. Waste management and sustainable energy production are further enhanced by biogas after producing with the help of anaerobic digestion of organic waste and is a great source of energy for heating and power generation. We can take a comprehensive approach to sustainability, improving energy efficiency and lessening our environmental impact, by combining the production of biofuel with waste management and the use of organic fertilizers. Significance environmental benefits of biofuels include lower GHG emission, reduced dependency on the fossil fuels and better air quality. By diversifying energy sources and possibly stabilizing prices, they also lessen exposure to changes in the world's oil markets, which promotes energy security. Nonetheless, it is essential to evaluate the wider ramifications of biofuel production and make sure that its advantages exceed any potential disadvantages in order to completely match with sustainability goals(Jeswani et al., 2020).

1. Introduction
Increasing population, industrialization, and change in the human lifestyle have become the reason for the exhaustion of non-renewable energy sources, our prime energy resource. The combustion of non-renewable energy sources produces toxic pollutants such as CO2, CO, NOx, SO2, etc., and greenhouse gases CH4, CO2, and N2O which significantly contribute to global warming, environmental pollution, and health hazards. In the current scenario, we need a green energy source that does not generate toxic gases and is eco-friendly. Hence, the research is triggered towards finding alternative solutions to overcome the energy crisis. The various green energy sources are solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, hydropower, biomass, hydrogen fuel cells, etc. The major drawback of these sources is the geographical location to install the plants. In the present context, identifying an alternate energy source that is sustainable, renewable, and eco-friendly to overcome the ever-growing energy demands is crucial. Hence, bioenergy is an eco-friendly, economical, and sustainable source of energy that gratifies the contemporary development environment by utilizing the potential of renewable organic energy resources (Yin and Wang et al., 2022).
2. Biomass
The sources of biomass are agro wastes, wood wastes, aquatic wastes, municipal wastes, wet wastes, industrial wastes, forest residues, etc. Figure 1.1 illustrates various sources of biomass, such as agricultural leftovers, forestry waste, energy crops, and organic municipal waste, showcasing their potential as renewable energy resources. Biomass is the product of photosynthesis and is also a versatile renewable energy source that can be utilized for sustainable biohydrogen generation. Biomass absorbs atmospheric CO2 during its growth, leading to relatively a lower net carbon impact as compared to fossil fuels. Renewable organic resources (biomass) can be in a solid, liquid, or gaseous phase. Energy generation through the incineration of biomass has been a longstanding practice. Since the energy potential of the biomass is not extracted effectively, it leads to environmental pollution (Kumar and Fiori et al., 2024). Biomass can be converted to liquid and gaseous fuels called biofuels with significant calorific value through thermochemical and biochemical processes (Gautam et al., 2020). Biofuels are superior to fossil fuels in the context of sustainability and reduced emissions of greenhouse gases. A variety of biofuels and chemicals such as bio-ethanol, biodiesel, acetic acid, formaldehyde, etc., can be manufactured from biomass (Gautam et al., 2020). Globally, research is advancing towards replacing non-renewable fuels with biofuels. However, the transition to biofuel technique presents a challenge due to the huge space requirement for biomass. Table 1.1 illustrates the categories of biomass employed for hydrogen generation, categorized into lignocellulosic materials, algal biomass, organic waste, and energy crops.

The study design also incorporates the methods of data collection and statistical analysis which meets the requirements of desired outcome. The implementation of an appropriate study design guarantees a methodical and exacting research process, resulting in more precise findings and the appropriate type of analysis to address the research-related queries. This makes the conclusions more reliable and legitimate. By ensuring that the data are reliable, repeatable, and validated, a well-designed study contributes to the advancement of knowledge. Additionally, it helps to control biases and confounding variables that could affect the results and helps to clarify the methodology of the study, which

The integration of ICT tools facilitates the dissemination of critical agricultural knowledge, enabling farmers to make informed decisions regarding planting, pest control, and market trends. This technological advancement is particularly beneficial for small-scale farmers who often face challenges in accessing timely and relevant information. ICT platforms such as mobile phones and radios play a crucial role in providing small-scale farmers with access to essential agricultural input information, aiding them in making informed decisions (Fosu & Giba-Fosu, 2024). Furthermore, ICT tools, including e-learning platforms and mobile applications, have revolutionized agricultural extension services by providing direct access to advisory services and expert knowledge. The use of social media and mobile communication has also improved interactions between farmers and agricultural experts, thereby increasing the effectiveness of extension programs (Bhat et al., 2024). The advent of digital and smart agriculture, supported by ICT, incorporates technologies such as remote sensing, precision agriculture, and automated machinery to optimize farming practices and reduce labor dependency (Yoe, 2024). Agri-informatics, a specialized branch of ICT in agriculture, leverages emerging technologies like Big Data and the Internet of Things (IoT) to develop sophisticated agricultural systems, promoting smart farming practices (Jena, 2024). While ICT provides numerous advantages, challenges such as infrastructural limitations, economic constraints, and disparities in digital literacy hinder its widespread adoption. Addressing these barriers through policy interventions and capacity-building initiatives is crucial for maximizing the potential of ICT in agriculture. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly integrated into agriculture to address contemporary challenges such as climate change, population growth, and the demand for sustainable food production. AI applications in soil and crop monitoring, predictive analytics, and agricultural robotics are gaining attraction, assisting farmers in data collection and analysis (Smith, 2020; Gupta et al., 2023). Moreover, automation in agriculture, driven by AI, addresses issues such as crop diseases, irrigation management, and pest control. Techniques like IoT, machine learning, and deep learning contribute to the automation of farming practices, increasing soil fertility and productivity (Jha et al., 2019). Robotics and automated systems minimize human intervention, thereby enhancing farm efficiency and sustainability (Eli-Chukwu, 2019). The implementation of AI in agriculture yields numerous benefits, including enhanced productivity, costeffectiveness, and sustainability. AI assists in optimizing resource utilization,

Introduction
In Indian agriculture and its sub sectors contribute for about 18.4 per cent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Globally, our country is being rated as on of the rapid growing major economies and rated as fifth largest economy by nominal GDP and in Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) its 3rd largest in the world. The horticultural crops have a special place in India’s economy because they raise rural residents’ incomes. India’s horticulture production has surpassed food grain production and reached 320.11 million MT which is a huge accomplishment. In Andhra Pradesh the horticulture crops are spread across 17.84 lakh ha with 312.34 lakh MT yield. Andhra Pradesh is first in terms of fruit and spice producing area, and second in terms of micro irrigation area coverage. The horticulture industry makes for around 16.07 percent of the state Gross Value Addition. In India, Andhra Pradesh ranks first in the production of tomatoes, oil palm, papaya, cocoa, chillies, and cocoa, and second in cashew, mango, and sweet orange. Horticulture is increasingly being recognized as a sunrise industry because of its potential to boost farm income, provide a stable source of livelihood, and generate foreign exchange through exports. India’s distinctive agro-climatic conditions, coupled with its vast diversity of crops and genetic resources, enable the country to produce a wide range of horticultural crops year-round. The Government of Andhra Pradesh crafted Andhra Pradesh Horticultural University in Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari district in 2007, subsequently renamed as Dr. YSR Horticultural University in 2011. This was done in recognition of the importance of horticulture, its development potential in the state, and its contribution to the GDP. The safety of meat and its derivatives is a paramount concern in the dynamic realm of food trade. Consumers demand food products that are not only affordable and possess an extended shelf life but are also of high safety standards. Consequently, meat inspections require strict adherence to good manufacturing practices and safety labelling that aligns with regulatory standards. Food-borne pathogens, including Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, pathogenic Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Campylobacter spp., and Vibrio spp., are responsible for numerous illnesses, thereby exerting a significant impact on public health and the economy. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), food contaminated with pathogens, chemicals, and allergens results in 600 million cases of food-borne illnesses and approximately 400,000 deaths globally each year. Furthermore, 56 million individuals die annually, with about 7.7% of the global population affected by foodborne diseases. Meat and meat products are essential sources of nutrients for humans, providing high-quality protein, essential amino acids, B vitamins, and minerals. However, due to their high-water activity and nutrient content, they also create a conducive environment for spoilage microorganisms and food-borne pathogens. Until a few decades ago, the meat industry was largely dominated by the unorganized sector, with limited access to knowledge that could enhance productivity. However, in the post-World Trade Organization (WTO) era, meat entrepreneurs have succeeded in increasing productivity, although they have faced challenges in ensuring product quality that aligns with the legislative standards of numerous developed and developing countries. The use of antibiotics as antimicrobial growth promoters in animal food production has been a contentious issue, as their unauthorized application has inadvertently contributed to the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria within the food chain. Recently, the United States Trade Representative’s office estimated that international trade has expanded significantly since the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) was signed in 1947. The establishment of the WTO in 1995 further facilitated trade in animal-origin foods and live animals between nations. However, the emergence and re-emergence of diseases caused by pathogenic bacteria have become a significant concern in this new pattern of food trade. Some of these pathogens are so virulent that they were not previously reported. According to a 1998 report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the annual cost of foodborne illnesses in the United States is nearly 10 billion US dollars. The bacterial pathogens most commonly associated with illnesses from beef products include Salmonella spp., Clostridium perfringens, and Staphylococcus aureus. Interest in Escherichia coli O157: H7 increased following a highly publicized food poisoning outbreak linked to undercooked beef patties in the United States in 1993, although it was largely confined to North America until the mid-1990s. Similarly, multidrug-resistant Salmonella typhimurium DT-104 has spread widely since it was first identified in the United Kingdom. In India, the incidence of Salmonella in red meat was recorded at up to 9%. These potentially harmful bacterial pathogens can reside on the hides or in the intestinal tracts of foodproducing animals or may originate indirectly through cross-contamination or the processing environment. Other emerging foodborne diseases include Listeriosis, which has spread throughout France and Canada, where meat and meat products have been implicated as sources of Listeria monocytogenes. Similarly, Staphylococcal food poisoning or food intoxication syndrome, first reported in 1894, has become a global issue in the meat industry.

Welding takes place in a variety of places, including factories and workshops, as well as outside on rural farms and construction sites. Basic welding techniques can be easily learnt, and the processes involved are quite straightforward to understand. The molecular joining of metals is called welding. When two or more pieces of metal are joined together uniformly such that the joint’s strength is greater than the combined strength of the individual components is known as a weld.

Renewable and more eco-friendly sources of fuel must be a major concern of our nation for the betterment of our environment because a growing population requires more energy. Fossil fuels have played a significant role in driving the advancement of society, economy, and development. Fossil fuels are the most used sources for the fulfilment of energy requirements. The predominant source of energy on a global scale is fossil fuels, which account for 88% of total energy production (Li et al., 2019). These sources are finite and depleting sources and have a significant negative impact on the environment through the emission of greenhouse gases, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, and particulate matter (Ritchie et al., 2023). These gases cause global warming by trapping heat, which causes climate change and its side effects, such as increased temperatures globally, more frequent and intense heat waves, and altered weather patterns (Solarin, 2020). In 2017, there was a 1.6% increase in CO2 emissions related to the combustion of fossil fuels, and this trend is anticipated to continue (Khoo et al., 2020). Fossil fuels, on the other hand, are non-renewable sources of energy that will deplete rapidly within fifty years (Chew et al., 2018). In an age marked by increasing environmental concerns and a growing urgency to combat climate change, the pursuit of sustainable and eco-friendly energy sources has never been more critical. Among the renewable energy options, biofuels have emerged as a prominent contender, holding the promise of reduced carbon emissions and a path toward a greener, more sustainable future (Takeuchi et al., 2002). Biofuels, derived from organic materials like trees algae, and waste, have attracted a lot of attention because they have the potential to lessen our reliance on fossil fuels and reduce the negative effects of climate change. Figure 5.1 shows the classification of biological feedstocks utilized in biofuels comprising four distinct generations: first, second, third, and fourth (Alalwan et al., 2019). Edible biomasses like sugar beet, corn, wheat, rice corn, etc come under the category of first generation. Since these feedstocks are in competition with food harvests for a specific quantity of land, fertilisers, and water, the viability of first-generation biofuels is subject to discussion (Paschalidou et al., 2016). Subsequently, the resources and energy utilised in the cultivation of feedstocks are inefficiently utilised, resulting in costly production. Furthermore, there exists a discourse surrounding the potential contribution of biofuel to the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs). This is because certain biofuel varieties may generate negative net energy gains, thereby increasing greenhouse gas emissions throughout the production process. However, the most contentious topic continues to be the "food versus fuel" dilemma.

Incentives are a powerful stimulus to transfer of technology. They can encourage researchers to get their results to market, a new career path for many of them. They can create a culture that attracts and retains entrepreneurial staff, scientists, students and technology transfer professionals (TTPs) that view the university as a career path and a vehicle for making a contribution to society. Working in a pro-entrepreneurship team of colleagues can also lead to getting people to think in terms of making a connection between their work and its application. Incentives can be short-term or long-term in nature, and can be tailored to individual or collective requirements.
