Animal husbandry programmes have been run through the State schemes. Each State has to evolve its own breeding policy deciding on choice of breed, cross breeding strategy, optional mixture of animals of different breeds required, breeding goals in terms of expected genetic progress to be achieved, specific breeding programmes and the control measures that should be adopted to achieve the desired genetic gains in the population.
General parameters in the breeding policy formulated by various States are
• Indigenous milch breeds such as Shaiwal, Red Sindhi and Gir, should be selectively developed for dairy traits in their native tracts.
• Indigenous dualpurpose breeds such as Hariana, Tharparkar, Rathi, Kankrej, Gaolao, Ongole Deoni etc. should be developed selectively in their native tracts for dairy and draft traits.
• Indigenous draft breeds like Kangayam, Hallikar, Khillari, Amrit Mahal etc. should be developed selectively for draft traits in their native tract.
• Non-descript cattle will be bred with exotic semen to produce cross breed with Holstein Friesian or jersey and maintaing 50% exotic impenitence. In some States Red Sindhi, Tharparkar and Hariana have also been used upgrading non-descript cattle.
• Development of indigenous breeds
• To develop indigenous breeds Government of India has initiated three schemes namely National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding, Central Herd registration scheme, Central Cattle Breeding Farms.
• Central Herd Registration Scheme
• For identification and location of superior germplasms of cattle and buffaloes, propagation of superior genetic stock, regulating sale and purchase, help in formation of breeders societies and to meet requirement of indigenous bulls in the different parts of the country. Government of India

Water, unique in its ability to exist in all three states at Earth’s temperatures, undergoes phase changes that are fundamental to the formation of clouds, precipitation, and atmospheric stability. Understanding the sources of atmospheric moisture, the ways it is measured and expressed, and its influence on atmospheric processes is essential for comprehending a wide range of meteorological phenomena (Fig. 4.1). We will explore concepts such as evaporation, condensation, humidity indices, and the role of moisture in energy transfer within the Earthatmosphere system. Introduction

Numerous research teams have recognized the significance of solid support materials for the creation of environmentally acceptable nano catalysts with high catalytic activity in light of the infinite advantages of MNPs (Sharma, R. K. et al., 2016; Gawande, M. B. et al., 2013; Deng, J. et al., 2011; Nasrollahzadeh, M. et al., 2015; Hudson, R. et al., 2014; Payra, S. et al., 2017; Chng, L. L. et al., 2013; Parandhaman, T. et al., 2017; Zhang, F. et al., 2014; Pourjavadi, A. et al., 2012). Heterogeneous catalysts in organic chemistry are solid catalysts that, while remaining in a distinct phase (usually solid) from the reactants (generally liquids or gasses), promote chemical reactions without being consumed in the process. These catalysts, which have multiple benefits such as ease of separation, recyclability, and selective reactivity, are essential in a variety of industrial processes and laboratory reactions (Lattuada, M. et al., 2007; Jiang, K. et al., 2011). The standard formula for ferrite nanoparticles is MFe2O4, where M is usually divalent metal ion like copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), or nickel (Ni), and iron (Fe) is the common metal (Kazemi, M. et al., 2018). These nanoparticles work very well as heterogeneous catalysts in a variety of chemical reactions because of their special magnetic and electrical characteristics.Because of its special qualities as a catalyst in a variety of processes, copper ferrite (CuFeO4), a mixed-metal oxide, has drawn interest in organic chemistry (Kharisov, B. I. et al., 2019; Zhu, J. et al., 2014; Vannucci, A. K. et al., 2012). It is a spinel-type ferrite that can catalyse a variety of organic transformations because it combines iron and copper in a stable, highly active structure. With benefits including high stability, reusability, and low toxicity, these catalysts are frequently employed in processes like oxidation, coupling, and reduction (Taghavi Fardood, S. et al., 2018). The Figure 1 represents schematic diagram of a reaction where the ferrite nanoparticles as catalyst have been recovered with the aid of an external magnet after the formation of reaction product.

Agriculture has long been intertwined with weather, where accurate forecasts are essential for planning everything from planting schedules to irrigation management, harvesting, and market timing. Over the decades, statistical methods have evolved from simple empirical models to sophisticated tools that integrate vast amounts of historical data, real-time observations, and remote sensing information (Fig. 4.1).
This chapter provides an in-depth exploration of the statistical techniques that underpin modern agricultural forecasting. In doing so, it examines their applications across various agricultural domains—including staple crops, fisheries, livestock, and horticulture/plantation systems—while also addressing the challenges and uncertainties inherent in weather prediction. Furthermore, the chapter discusses how the rise of big data and artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping traditional approaches, particularly in the context of food production and agricultural resilience.
In the following sections, we explore
• Statistical Techniques: An overview of regression models, time-series analysis, and probabilistic methods used in weather forecasting.
• Applications in Agriculture: Tailoring forecasting models for crops, fisheries, livestock, and horticultural/plantation systems.

This chapter integrates case studies, scientific examples, and policy perspectives to illustrate how AI and ML can transform agricultural weather intelligence. The discussion spans from advanced predictive models in developed nations to emerging applications in technology-limited regions, while also addressing the urgent need for resilient crisis management systems in the face of natural and human-caused conditions. Advanced scientific techniques can not only optimize food production and resource management but also play a critical role in recovery efforts during times of crisis. Agriculture is intrinsically linked to the natural world—a domain defined by fluctuating weather patterns, seasonal shifts, and unpredictable environmental factors. Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are revolutionizing how we analyze and predict weather patterns, and their applications in agriculture are far-reaching (Fig. 5.1). From forecasting crop yields and fishery conditions to managing plantations and monitoring livestock health, these technologies are creating a paradigm shift in agricultural weather intelligence. Scientific organizations worldwide are leveraging AI and ML to refine predictive models, enable multi-variate analysis, and provide advanced warning systems for extreme events such as droughts, tsunamis, earthquakes, and even crises caused by human-made conflicts. Emerging nations with rapidly growing technological capabilities stand to benefit immensely from these innovations, tailoring solutions to local challenges while contributing to global food security and crisis resilience.

The content presented in this chapter is exploratory and reflects emerging trends in integrating weather intelligence with decision support systems. The term “weather intelligence” is introduced as a framework, with ongoing research expected to further refine and expand upon these ideas as technologies evolve. In an era where climate variability and extreme weather events increasingly threaten global food systems, the integration of advanced decision support systems (DSS) with what we are now calling weather intelligence has emerged as a transformative paradigm. This chapter explores how food production— encompassing agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry—can harness integrated weather intelligence to inform real-time crisis management, strategic planning, and risk mitigation. The discussion is exploratory in many respects, as the concept of weather intelligence represents an innovative framework that challenges traditional forecasting methods and decision support tools (Fig. 9.1). Drawing on multidisciplinary research and practical case studies, we examine the building blocks of decision support systems tailored to food production. We then discuss the integration of weather intelligence into crisis response and strategic planning, highlighting both established risk mitigation approaches and emerging tools designed to anticipate and respond to extreme weather events. By contextualizing these developments within the broader scope of sustainable food production, this chapter offers an in-depth analysis and a forward-looking vision for decision support and response management in a rapidly changing climate.

Introduction 
Polymers are mostly distinguished from metals by their property of inability to conduct electricity. Because of the insulating properties, polymers find advantages for many applications of plastics. However with the discovery of poly sulphur nitride [(SN)x], which acts as super-conductor at low temperature the evolution of conducting polymers began in 1975. After two years the linear conjugated organic polymer polyacetylene treated with gaseous bromine or Iodine found to have metallic properties. Some examples of conducting polymers are polyaniline, polypyrrole and polythiophene etc. Conducting polymers are organic polymer, possesses the magnetic, electronic, electrical properties, mechanical properties, and processibility etc. These properties are most commonly related to the conventional polymer. The transformation of polymer from insulator to conductor is called doping. For example: the effect of conductivity due to the absorption of I2 into polyacetylene is analogous to the effect of doping of arsenic, boron, and phosphorus into silicon to make semiconductor. Doping and undoping can be achieved in conducting polymers by an alternate route of electrochemical oxidation and reduction. Doping includes either the removal of electrons from or addition of electron to the conjugated backbone of conducting polymers. Doping is therefore of two types: Oxidative doping (p-type): In this case, the polymer backbone carries a positive charge due to removal of an electron by ordinary oxidation. Examples of p-doped conductive polymers are polyacetylene, polyaniline, polypyrroles etc. The p-doping causes oxidation of the polymer backbone to form cations. When these cations move along the polymer backbone in an electrical field, the polymer is electrically conductive. Reductive doping (n-type): the polymer backbone acquires negative charge by receiving electrons. Ex: Polyacetylene can be n-doped by alkali metals but these are less explored because they are very much sensitive towards atmospheric air than specific undoped type polymer. According to the principle of electroneutrality, doped conducting polymer needs counter ion to balance the opposite charges in the polymer backbone. These counterions are called dopant. Some common examples of dopants are usually small anions e.g. Cl-, I-, and SO4 2-. However poly-electrolyte like p-toluene sulphonic acid can act as the dopant. The process by which the doped polymer loses its charges and becomes an insulator is called undoping. For a doped conducting polymer with isolated small anions as dopants, undoping is accompanied by the loss of the dopant. Undoping causes the conductive polymer to lose its electrical conductivity and useful optical properties.

On one hand, farmers have always been attuned to the subtleties of the climate, carefully observing weather patterns, soil moisture levels, and pest populations to make informed decisions about planting, harvesting, and crop management. This traditional knowledge, passed down through generations, has allowed farmers to develop a keen sense of the local climate and its rhythms. On the other hand, farmers are also significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, with agricultural practices such as tillage, fertilization, and livestock production releasing carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide into the atmosphere. As the climate continues to change, farmers are finding themselves at the forefront of climate awareness. Rising temperatures are altering growing seasons, shifting the distribution of pests and diseases, and changing the patterns of rainfall and drought. This, in turn, affects crop yields, quality, and profitability, making it increasingly challenging for farmers to maintain their livelihoods. The consequences of climate change are far-reaching, from the immediate impacts on farm productivity to the long-term implications for food security, rural development, and ecosystem health. In this context, farmers are not just passive victims of climate change; they are also key players in the global effort to mitigate its effects. By adopting climateresilient agricultural practices, such as agroforestry, conservation tillage, and integrated pest management, farmers can reduce their carbon footprint, improve soil health, and promote biodiversity. Moreover, farmers can serve as powerful advocates for climate policy, using their unique perspective to inform decisionmaking at the local, national, and international levels. This chapter explores the complex relationships between farmers, climate awareness, and climate change. By examining the ways in which farmers are experiencing and responding to climate change, we can gain a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. From the nuances of climatesmart agriculture to the role of farmers in shaping climate policy, this chapter

In this context, the development and dissemination of operational agroclimatological advisories ((OAA) have emerged as a vital strategy for mitigating the impacts of climate variability on agriculture.
5.1. The Imperative for Agroclimatological Advisories
Agroclimatological advisories are specialized services designed to provide farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders with timely and accurate information on optimal agricultural practices in response to prevailing and forecasted climatic conditions. These advisories are grounded in the integration of climatological data, agricultural research, and local knowledge, aiming to enhance agricultural productivity, reduce risks associated with climate variability, and promote sustainable agricultural practices (Fig. 5.1).
The relevance and necessity of these advisories are underscored by several critical factors:
• Climate Change Impacts: The agricultural sector is both a contributor to and a victim of climate change. Agroclimatological advisories can guide farmers in adopting practices that reduce the vulnerability of their crops to changing climatic conditions.
• Food Security: With the global population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050, enhancing agricultural productivity and resilience is crucial for ensuring food security. Tailored advisories can help farmers make informed decisions that potentially increase yields and reduce losses.
• Economic Stability: Agriculture is a significant source of income and employment in many countries. By minimizing risks associated with climate variability, agroclimatological advisories can contribute to economic stability and poverty reduction.

The intricate balance between the Earth’s atmosphere and its ecosystems has always been a subject of fascination and concern, particularly when it comes to the impact of extreme weather events on agriculture. The delicate balance that sustains life on our planet is often disrupted by the very forces that make our environment dynamic and diverse. Extreme weather events, such as hurricanes, droughts, floods, and heatwaves, have become a recurring theme in the narrative of global agriculture, leaving in their wake trails of devastation, economic loss, and food insecurity. Agriculture, the backbone of many economies around the world, is inherently sensitive to weather patterns. The cycle of planting, growth, and harvesting is deeply intertwined with the climate and weather conditions of a region. Any significant deviation from the expected weather patterns can have far-reaching consequences for crop yields, livestock health, and ultimately, the livelihoods of those dependent on farming and related activities. The relationship between weather and agriculture is not just about the immediate impacts of extreme events but also about the long-term changes in climate that alter the very fabric of agricultural practices and productivity. Weather hazards and disasters, by their nature, are becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change, posing unprecedented challenges to agricultural systems worldwide. These events not only affect the quantity and quality of agricultural produce but also have profound implications for the environment, economy, and society at large. For instance, a severe drought can lead to crop failure, affecting food availability and prices, while also depleting water resources, which in turn can exacerbate land degradation and loss of biodiversity. The global interconnectedness of food systems means that the impacts of extreme weather events on agriculture in one part of the world can have ripple effects on food security and economies elsewhere. This interconnectedness underscores the need for a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationships between weather patterns, agricultural productivity, and the resilience of food systems. By examining the causes, consequences, and responses to extreme weather events and their impacts on agriculture, we can begin to unravel the intricacies of these interactions and explore strategies for mitigating the adverse effects and enhancing the resilience of agricultural systems in the face of an increasingly unpredictable climate.

It is in this context that the concept of transcending technologies and food for all has emerged as a critical imperative for achieving sustainable food systems. The notion of transcending technologies refers to the development and deployment of innovative solutions that go beyond the limitations of current agricultural practices and technologies. This involves harnessing the potential of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, the Internet of Things (IoT), and biotechnology to create more efficient, sustainable, and resilient food systems. By leveraging these technologies, it is possible to optimize crop yields, reduce waste, improve resource allocation, and enhance the overall sustainability of agricultural practices. However, the concept of transcending technologies is not solely focused on the development of new technologies. Rather, it emphasizes the need for a holistic and integrated approach to food production, processing, and distribution. This involves recognizing the intricate relationships between food systems, ecosystems, and human societies, and working to create a more equitable, just, and sustainable food culture. The goal of achieving food for all is closely tied to the concept of transcending technologies. Despite the fact that the world produces enough food to feed every person, millions of people around the globe continue to suffer from hunger and malnutrition. This is a stark reminder that the challenge of feeding the world’s population is not simply a matter of producing more food, but also of ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious and sustainable food. In order to achieve this goal, it is essential to address the complex web of factors that contribute to food insecurity, including poverty, inequality, conflict, and environmental degradation. This requires a multifaceted approach that involves governments, international organizations, civil society, and the private sector working together to create a more just and equitable food system. In this chapter, we will explore the concept of transcending technologies and food for all in greater depth, examining the latest innovations and trends in

Agricultural meteorology, a discipline that has traditionally focused on understanding the relationships between weather and climate, and agricultural productivity, is at a critical juncture. The increasing vulnerability of agricultural systems to climate change, coupled with the need for sustainable and resilient agricultural practices, necessitates a fundamental transformation of agricultural meteorology. To support the development and implementation of climate resilient agriculture (CRA) practices, agricultural meteorology must be reoriented as a super speciality discipline. This requires a comprehensive overhaul of the discipline, including its curriculum, research focus, and practice. The reorientation of agricultural meteorology as a super speciality discipline is essential to provide the necessary expertise and knowledge to support CRA practices. This includes developing and applying cutting-edge technologies, such as precision agriculture, remote sensing, and machine learning, to support agricultural decision-making. However, the current state of agricultural meteorology is not equipped to meet the demands of CRA. The discipline faces several challenges, including a lack of interdisciplinary approaches, inadequate emphasis on practical skills, and limited focus on climate change and sustainability (Fig. 8.1). To address these challenges, essential reforms are necessary to reorient agricultural meteorology as a super speciality discipline. This chapter will discuss the essential reforms required to transform agricultural meteorology, including reforms in curriculum, research, practice, and policy. By implementing these

This dependence is starkly highlighted by the fact that a considerable proportion of the world‘s arable land relies solely on rainfall, with monsoons being the primary source of this vital resource. In India alone, for instance, nearly half of the agricultural land is rainfed, a figure indicative of the broader reliance on monsoonal patterns in many other nations within these regions. Agriculture, the primary source of livelihood for many in these monsooninfluenced areas, remains heavily dependent on the timely arrival and consistent behavior of these rains. The delicate dance between the monsoon and agricultural cycles has shaped cultural practices, economic structures, and societal well-being for centuries. It is estimated that a substantial percentage of global agricultural production is reliant on monsoonal rainfall, underscoring the profound impact these weather systems have on food security and economic stability worldwide. The variability of monsoons – in terms of onset, intensity, duration, and spatial distribution – directly translates into fluctuations in crop yields, impacting everything from local food supplies and farmer incomes to national economies and international trade. Beyond the economic implications, the social vulnerability associated with monsoon variability cannot be overstated. Communities that depend on rainfed agriculture are particularly susceptible to the vagaries of the monsoon. Delayed or weak monsoons can lead to widespread crop failures, resulting in food shortages, economic hardship, and even migration. Conversely, excessively heavy rains can cause devastating floods, destroying crops, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Therefore, understanding, monitoring, and, crucially, forecasting the behavior of monsoons is not merely an academic exercise but a critical necessity for ensuring the prosperity and resilience of a significant portion of the global population. This book endeavors to delve into the intricate the need for Effective Climate Guidance i.e. 'ECG' of these monsoons, exploring the complex interplay of factors that govern their behavior and highlighting the advancements in forecasting that

We will embark on a detailed journey through the complexities of the Indian monsoon system, examining the atmospheric and oceanic factors that drive its variability. By understanding the gap between current forecasting capabilities and these requirements, we can better appreciate the ongoing efforts to bridge this divide through improved forecasting techniques and effective dissemination strategies. Cellulosic ethanol refers to the production of ethanol, an alcohol fuel, from cellulose found in plant fibers rather than from seeds or fruits. This biofuel can be derived from various sources such as grasses, wood, and other plants. The fibrous components of these plants are mostly from crop residues and other sources indigestible for animals, except for ruminants like cows and sheep, as well as hindgut fermenters like horses, rabbits, and rhinos. The interest in cellulosic ethanol stems from its potential economic value. Plant growth and cellulose formation serve as a mechanism to capture and store solar energy in a chemically stable manner, facilitating easy transport and storage of the resulting supplies. Moreover, the ability of grasses and trees to grow in temperate regions makes cellulosic ethanol commercially viable and offers a potential solution from non-food sources other than grain and tuber starch. This cellulosic ethanol development in the biofuel industry presents an opportunity to derive carbonaceous liquid fuels and petrochemicals, which are vital for our current standard of living, in a balanced and renewable manner by recycling carbon from the surface and atmosphere through any kind of plant orgin or any plant or tree species, Additionally, commercially viable cellulosic ethanol could mitigate the issue associated with conventional biofuels based on grains, which compete with food production and may lead to increased food prices. However, the production of cellulosic ethanol is currently economically feasible and has been implemented on a large scale in India. Several 2G ethanol plants are being developed by companies like Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). Different types of biomass contain varying amounts of sugars, and the complexity of the biomass is determined by the structural and carbohydrate components. Plant biomass mainly consists of lignin (13.6-28.1%), cellulose (40.6-51.2%) and hemicellulose (28.5-37.2%), which serve as the raw materials for fuel production. The conversion of biomass into sugars is a crucial step in biofuel production. Therefore, selecting an appropriate pretreatment process based on the biomass type is essential to achieve optimal sugar yield with minimal energy input.

Tree-based biofuels, which are made from non-edible oilseeds of perennial trees, have emerged as a renewable energy source with considerable environmental and economic benefits. Unlike annual biofuel crops, tree-based biofuels have the potential for long-term yields, soil conservation benefits, and the ability to survive on marginal terrain (Dwivedi et al.,2011). Various tree species have been identified globally for their biofuel potential, with an emphasis on sustainability and low competition with food crops (Pandey et al., 2012). In India, there is a diverse range of over 100 tree species that produce seed oil suitable for biodiesel. These oil tree species can be cultivated on non-agricultural lands, ensuring that they do not compete with food and fodder production. Globally, tree-based biofuels are crucial for energy security. Palm, jatropha, pongamia, and mahua are among the feedstocks investigated by the US, Brazil, and Europe for biodiesel production. Tree-borne oilseeds (TBOs) are critical for biodiesel generation in India, which relies heavily on fossil fuel imports. India has implemented both the National Biofuel Policy (2009) and the National Agroforestry Policy (2014). The former policy aims to replace fossil fuels with biofuels, targeting a 5% replacement by 2012, 10% by 2017, and exceeding 10% beyond 2017. The latter policy focuses on integrated land use options for livelihood, environment, and energy security. Notably, important tree-borne oilseeds (TBOs) such as Jatropha, Karanj, Mahua, and Simarouba have been efficiently incorporated into agroforestry systems, yielding beneficial results and providing a significant source of non-edible oilseeds from trees. The need for alternatives to fossil fuels is particularly urgent for countries like India, which have a vibrant economy and high consumption of fossil fuels, heavily relying on imports. Biofuels, as renewable liquid fuels derived from biological sources, have proven to be promising substitutes for oil in the energy sector (Mahapatra et al.,2021). In India, the focus on biofuels is primarily on non-edible oils obtained from tree species’ seeds since oils from food crops like corn, sweet sorghum, and soybean cannot be diverted for biodiesel production (Raju et al., 2012). Tree-borne oilseeds (TBOs) are cultivated across the country in various agro-climatic conditions, including forest and non-forest areas, as well as wastelands, deserts, and hilly regions. India has a vast potential for oilseeds derived from trees, such as Mahua (Madhuca indica), Neem (Azadirachta indica),

Biofuel crops play a crucial role in the global transition towards renewable energy. With increasing concerns about climate change and energy security, biofuels have emerged as a viable alternative to fossil fuels. However, their economic viability is influenced by various factors, including production costs, market demand, government policies, and environmental implications. The United States has been the most prominent fuel ethanol producer since 2007, followed by Brazil. Together the United States and Brazil account for 84% of the global ethanol production. European Union, China and Canada are the other leading fuel ethanol producers. Fuel ethanol production and consumption continue to rise, regardless of variations in crude oil prices. The United States is the largest producer, generating 60 billion liters primarily from corn, while Brazil follows with 33 billion liters, mainly derived from sugarcane (https://www.statista.com.) Ethanol production in India started in 1938 with recommendations to convert molasses into alcohol, eventually resulting in the enactment of the Power Alcohol Act in 1948. The Ethanol Blending Programme (EBP), introduced in 2003, mandated a 5% ethanol blend (E5). However, due to supply shortages in 2004-2005, the blending requirement was made optional. In the 2013-14 period, a total of 38 crore liters of ethanol was procured for blending with petrol. This amount significantly increased to 567 crore liters in the Ethanol Supply Year (ESY) 2022-23, achieving an ethanol blend level of E11.7. Acknowledging the substantial progress in the ethanol fuel blending initiative for a greener transition and Atmanirbhar Bharat, the government revised the target to E20 by 2025–26 and set an E30 goal for 2030 (NAAS, 2024). The proposed share of E20 is from sugarcane-based ethanol 10%, maize 7% and other damaged food grains 3.0%. The recently reported data during Jan 2025 showed the achievement of 19.6% blending in petrol (PIB, GOI, 2025)

12.1 Introduction
This chapter presents topics on drawing, stretching and extrusion under bulk transformation process. Tensile forces are used in the manufacturing process of drawing to extend materials, viz. plastic, glass, and metal. The material takes on the required thickness and shape as it is drawn, or dragged. Sheet metal drawing, and wire, bar and tube drawing are the two categories of drawings. Drawing is one of the most remarkable shaping techniques used in sheet metal stamping. During the drawing process, a blank’s surface area is forced into a new shape by controlled metal flow due to stress. As the metal enters the cavity, flow happens. Basically, drawing occurs when the blank’s exterior profile changes during the metal’s formation. One of the complicated yet most efficient methods for forming sheet metal is drawing. Because tension is involved in the drawing process, some stretching will occur, but the goal is to form the sheet metal with as little stretching as possible. Tension and metal thinning during the stretching process cause a blank’s surface area to increase. Do not mistake stretching for drawing. The blank changes shape as the metal flows through the die during drawing. The blank edge does not move inward during stretching. Except for the fact that stretching dies, in contrast to most embossing dies, use a high-pressure binder to limit and stop metal flow. Like a drawing pad, a binder purposefully prevents the metal from flowing inward. Stretching dies are used in the production of automotive parts, viz. fenders, roofs, and hoods. Extrusion is the process of forcing material through a die with the desired cross-section to generate components with a fixed cross-sectional profile.

4.1 Phases of technology transfer
To translate laboratory research into market ready product, it is important to understand steps or phases involved in this technology transfer process. The process typically includes six main phases, each with a different role (figure 9).
4.1.1 Research
Technology transfer begins with research, the critical stage of exploring and discovering novel knowledge, technologies, or innovations that may have potential commercial applications. The research phase can occur in academic institutions, research organizations, or private sector companies, often funded by public or private sources. Thorough research ensures that the technologies being transitioned are scientifically and technically robust, thereby increasing their potential for market success. Therefore, the research phase involves creating and evaluating new ideas, confirming their feasibility, and identifying IP prospects, all of which are key components of TT success.
4.1.2 Innovation disclosure
Innovation disclosure is the first formal step where the innovation is reported to the appropriate TTO or IP management team. This process ensures that the institution or organization recognizes the innovation and evaluates its potential for protection and commercialization. It includes following information:

The increasing prices of fast-depleting fossil fuels and their environmental impact have driven the quest for alternative fuels for diesel engines. Because of their higher biomass yield, faster growth rates, and superior photosynthetic efficiency when compared to other energy crops like soybean and rapeseed, microalgae are considered as promising candidates for biofuel production (Mubarak et al., 2015). Numerous species of microalgae have been found to have high lipid contents, making them attractive cell platforms for the synthesis of lipids. Their significance as a backup source of bioenergy in the future is indicated by the ease with which their lipids can be transformed into biodiesel (Ren et al., 2021). Tiny photosynthetic organisms known as microalgae are the ancestors of eukaryotic plants on Earth. These organisms range in size from one to hundred microns and are either unicellular or multicellular (Udayan et al., 2022). Due to the genetic and biochemical diversity of their lineages, algae are able to synthesize a wide range of metabolites, including lipids (Manning, 2022). Glycerolipids are the most prevalent and well-known lipid class in microalgae. Glycerolipids are categorized into two classes based on their functions: storage lipids and structural lipids. Membrane lipids, a type of structural lipid, play a crucial role in forming cell and organelle membranes. They typically consist of two fatty acid groups attached to a glycerol backbone, along with a polar group bound to the glycerol structure (Morales et al., 2021). In contrast, polar lipids have a higher oxygen content and possess charged side groups, enabling them to moderately interact with water. Examples include phospholipids and glycolipids (Manning, 2022). Microalgal lipid metabolism predominantly relies on the de novo fatty acid biosynthesis pathway and the triacylglycerol (TAG) synthesis route (Zhu et al., 2022). Therefore, accurately estimating the composition of the lipid fraction is crucial for determining its potential applications, whether as a raw material for biofuel production or for nutraceutical and/or food purposes (Viegas et al., 2020). The production of biodiesel from microalgae presents a novel approach to generating renewable and sustainable energy. Additionally, different techniques, including lipid extraction and transesterification, are utilized to transform lipid-rich microalgae biomass into biodiesel (Gaurav et al., 2024). Microalgae possess thick-walled cell structures, which restrict the release of their bioactive compounds due to the rigidity of the microalgal matrix. Consequently, selecting suitable pre-treatment and extraction methods is essential for effectively obtaining lipids from microalgae while preserving their bioactivity. Traditional methods for lipid extraction, such as Soxhlet extraction, Folch extraction, and Bligh-Dyer extraction, have been used for a considerable time. While these techniques are generally easy to use and cost-effective, which encourages their adoption, they also have drawbacks, including high consumption of organic solvents, environmental pollution, and extended extraction times that can last several hours. Thus, it is essential to investigate suitable techniques that enhance the extraction rate and lower costs while ensuring the bioactive properties of lipids, enabling better industrial applications of microalgae (Zhou et al., 2022). In recent years, the use of nanotechnology and nanoparticles has emerged as a novel approach for extracting valuable metabolites or bioproducts from microalgae. Nanoparticles (NPs) are materials engineered with at least one dimension measuring less than 100 nanometers (nm). Due to their small size and large surface

Due to the depletion of their raw material supplies, traditional fossil fuel use should be reduced. There is significant hope for biofuel production (Gangl D et al., 2015 ; Seo et al., 2017), and in the past decade, interest in using microalgae has been steadily increasing (Gangl D et al., 2015). The algae group consists of various photosynthetic eukaryotic species that are typically found in both freshwater and marine environments. With an estimated 30,000 to 1 million species, algae range from single-celled cyanobacteria to multicellular forms, each having distinct traits. Microalgae, specifically, grow rapidly and absorb carbon dioxide as they develop (Guiry and M. D., 2012). Many industries have benefited from the utilization of microalgae species for the good of humanity. Food, medications and antibiotics, wastewater treatment, biofuel, biofertilizers, and CO2 fixation are a few of the significant uses for microalgae (Singh et al., 2018 ; Ananthi et al., 2021). Compared to first-generation biofuels, the manufacturing of algae-based biofuel is more advantageous to the environment (Alalwan et al., 2019). Microalgal biofuel production is a greener alternative to first-generation biofuels (Alalwan et al., 2019). It can be cultivated in less ideal locations, such as the ocean or non-arable land, and doesn’t require fertile soil, which helps prevent rivalry with food crops for freshwater and farmland (Winckelmann et al., 2015; Correa et al., 2020). Microalgal production systems can help treat wastewater or convert CO2 into oxygen without interfering with the food supply (Onyeaka et al., 2021; Prasad et al., 2021). Nanotechnology and nanomaterials are becoming increasingly popular across many fields for their useful properties, with global research exploring their role in biodiesel production and processing. To speed up the development of biodiesel production, advanced nanotechnology is being emphasized to achieve higher yields at lower costs. Microalgae are a promising source for biodiesel production, and various nanoparticles can significantly boost the efficiency of harvesting them. Reusing nanomaterials and combining cell harvesting, disruption, and extraction processes also help reduce costs. Moreover, different nanocatalysts can enhance the efficiency of biodiesel conversion (Verma and Kuila, 2020). Currently available techniques for microalgal harvesting include chemical, mechanical, biological, and electrical ones to some extent. Harvesting microalgal biomass is most often done by mechanical means since they are the most dependable (Grima et al., 2003 ; Christenson et al., 2011). But, in order to increase productivity and reduce operating and maintenance expenses, these procedures are frequently followed by biological or chemical flocculation phases. For maximum separation efficiency and minimum cost, two or more of these techniques are frequently used. For instance, processing costs can be significantly decreased by combining centrifugation and flocculation-sedimentation (Schlesinger et al., 2012). Novel approaches like biological treatments have the potential to further lower operating expenses.

Modern energy policies place a strong emphasis on developing low-carbon energy sources while also ensuring that society has enough energy security. However, because fossil fuels play such a vital part in the global energy system, measures to reduce GHG emissions from fossil fuels must be found. Researchers and scientists are examining the characteristics of materials at the nanoscale level to identify compounds that might boost the efficiency of the energy sources we now use. The physical properties of several materials (such as strength, heat conductivity, and reflectance) alter at the nanoscale in comparison to their bulk properties. When compared to their bulk properties, several materials have distinct physical properties at the nanoscale (such as strength, electrical and thermal conductivity, and reflectance). several materials on a nanoscale. Additionally, materials with nanostructures are more suited for material-to-material interactions due to their higher surface to unit weight volume ratio. This is a useful characteristic as many chemical and electrical reactions take place at surfaces and are greatly impacted by the chemical composition of the reactant and the surface’s structure. The goal of nanotechnology research in the fossil fuel industry is to create novel catalysts that will improve the energy efficiency of the fossil fuel breakdown process. Given that heavy crude oil contains sulphur. The transformation of coal into liquid fuels for use in transportation requires the employment of several kinds of catalysts. Furthermore, because of their structure and the presence of electrons in their outer orbitals, which increases the potential for chemical reactions, the majority of typical catalysts used in cars today rely on valuable metals like platinum. Concerns about the supply of precious metals are raised by the industrialised world’s transport networks’ explosive expansion. Finding more affordable and readily available substitutes is imperative given the scarcity and high cost of these materials, and this will be emphasised in the researchers’ upcoming work. Additionally, because of their unique qualities that relate to the phenomena of corrosion resistance or their exceptionally strong qualities that are advantageous in turbomachinery components, nanomaterials are also helpful in power systems (1) . The application of nanotechnology in the production of resistant ceramics for use as insulators in gearbox lines results in smooth coatings that reduce the likelihood of fouling in cooling water intakes. Additionally, nanotechnology can improve a material’s conductivity and produce a superconductor at ambient temperature rather than a superconducting characteristic at very high temperatures. Renewable energy sources—also known as “green energy”—such as solar, wind, and ocean energy— allow countries to reduce their reliance on petroleum and address environmental problems related to the use of fossil fuels. In these technologies, nanotechnology is also employed. Mao and Chen concentrated their research efforts on developing nanotechnologies for a select group of renewable energy sources, including fuel cells, solar cells, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen generation. This research aims to provide a comprehensive comparative analysis of nanotechnology’s application to the development of sustainable energy systems, including nanomaterials, nanofluids, and nanostructures.

The process of producing biodiesel from the microalgae involves many stages. The stepwise structure involves lipid extraction, microalgae cell disruption, harvesting, culture and transesterification. Nanoparticles are an ultrafine unit and have dimensions which are stated in nanometers. These nanoparticles can be detected in the natural environment and can also be generated by human activity. It provides a framework for ensuring that data generated in non-clinical safety studies are reliable and reproducible, thereby facilitating the mutual acceptance of data by regulatory authorities worldwide (OECD, 1998; US EPA, 2016). GLP represents a structured quality system designed to ensure the consistency and reliability of non-clinical safety studies. It establishes a framework encompassing organizational processes and laboratory conditions, with a focus on:
1. Systematic Study Conduct: GLP mandates a methodical approach to the planning, execution, supervision, recording, reporting, and archiving of studies.
2. Data Integrity Assurance: The primary objective is to guarantee the dependability of data generated, thereby fostering confidence in safety assessments.
3. Regulatory Compliance Support: GLP facilitates adherence to regulatory standards, enabling the acceptance of study findings by authorities worldwide.
4. Non-Clinical Safety Focus: It specifically applies to studies that precede human clinical trials, particularly those evaluating the potential hazards of chemical substances (OECD, 1998).

All the working laboratories must perform this repeated preventive means at least once a year. The safety of laboratory workers, the caliber of results, and environmental preservation all depend on risk management in good laboratory practices (GLP). These are a few GLP risk management techniques. GLP- The Concept In accordance with excellent laboratory practice, risk management should be implemented by evaluating every laboratory procedure to guarantee the safety of both patients and staff. The Directorate of Extension (DoE) at Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) is a key player in this process, liaising with state development departments to drive technology dissemination in the agriculture and allied sectors. Through a network of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) and several institutional mechanisms, the Directorate integrates new agricultural technologies into mainstream practices, focusing on both skill development and sustainable development strategies. It conducts workshops, seminars, and training programs focused on enhancing the skills of extension workers, farmers, and other stakeholders. The focus is not just on disseminating new technologies but also on building long-term capacity through skill development. This ensures that the stakeholders are well-equipped to implement the innovations in a way that promotes efficiency, productivity, and sustainability. In essence, the DoE at KAU is a driving force in modernizing agriculture in Kerala. Through its structured efforts in technology transfer, skill enhancement, and the promotion of sustainable practices, it enables the agricultural sector to keep pace with scientific advancements while ensuring that the benefits are accessible and applicable at the field level.
Initiatives / Interventions of DoE, KAU
The Directorate of Extension is crucial in bridging the gap between agricultural research and field-level application through various innovative initiatives. Key interventions include the popularization of agricultural technologies, primarily through farm-based production programs, Block Level Agricultural Knowledge Centres (BLAKC), and the Mukhamukham (face-to-face) Agro Clinic. The Directorate also focuses on capacity-building programs, entrepreneurship development, and ICT-enabled technology dissemination. Additionally, the Directorate supports vulnerable sections of society, develops Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and implements state-funded development projects, contributing to the holistic growth of Kerala’s agricultural sector.

Introduction 
University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad is one of the premier agriculture Universities in India has made its remarkable journey in the field of Teaching/ Research / Extension since its inception, UAS, Dharwad has got six Krishi Vigyan Kendras sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research. Which have adopted various outreach methodologies for the farming community. Apart from conventional methods of technology transfer i.e., technologies in pipeline (farm trails) conducted in farmers fields for their acceptance, front line demonstration, on farm testing, PRA, diagnostic field visits etc. KVKs have employed various techniques making use of ICT which have proved to be effective in enhancing the productivity of farms (Medhi et al., 2017), reaching farmers quickly and effectively. The present paper is a compilation of innovative methodologies adopted by KVKs under UAS Dharwad during last five years. As it is mandate for all the KVKs to prepare action plan before the onset of every year during March-April, vigorous exercises are done by KVKs to prioritize the problems faced by farmers in the particular district. These problems are planned to tackle the location specific technologies developed in that zone. If the technologies under FLD banner are not available in particular technologies developed elsewhere in NARS are borrowed and tested for both its sustainability under that agro-ecological system. During this process of prioritizing the problems, implementation and monitoring, KVK adopt various methods given as discussed below.

Introduction 
The agriculture scenario has evolved considerably over the years. In the present context, consumers need diverse, safe and nutritious food which calls for a major reorganisation of the agricultural value chains to support transformation from the traditional production-oriented supply chains to demand-based approaches. Trade liberalization has further intensified competition by exposing farmers to both domestic and international markets, compelling them to meet elevated standards in terms of product quality and pricing. Therefore, the primary focus should be on enhancing technical expertise, managerial capabilities and access to timely information to enable smallholder farmers not only to strengthen their livelihoods but also enhance their marketing skills amid the fast-evolving global economic landscape. Access to true information is equally essential for addressing growing challenges related to natural resource degradation and climate change. Extension in Indian context, play a vital role in bridging the knowledge gap between research institutions and farmers by providing a range of advisory amenities and facilitate expertise application, transmission and management in the farmer’s fields. Perhaps, agricultural extension is the only service at the ground-level that can provide essential knowledge, guidance, information as well as assistance to the farmers and the stakeholders. There has been extensive range of transformation and inventiveness in agricultural extension services in India; however, the exposure and access to information which were disseminated to marginal and underprivileged farmers are uneven and patchy. Likewise, in real situation a huge gap existed between the technology developed/released and the technology disseminated/adopted. A study by NSSO (National Sample Survey Organisation), 2014, highlighted that the almost 59 per cent of the farm families refrained from any assistance from either government or private extension services. In the country, 40.6 per cent households received extension assistance while, only 11 per cent of the services came from physical government machineries. At present hardly onethird of the technology developed at the research organizations has reached the farming community and the statistics of adoption/application of such technology at field level is even less than that. Practical application of many of our recommended agricultural technologies in the field is very much difficult either because of the complex nature of the technology or inputs so prescribed are not readily available in nearby areas. Moreover, most of the extension machineries tend to work in isolation from each other. The production-oriented strategy which was the sole focus of earlier extension services, needs to be expanded to market-led strategy to deal with the novel

The discovery of antibiotics—one of the greatest medical breakthroughs of the 20th century—began when Sir Alexander Fleming noticed that the fungus Penicillium notatum inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus spp. This finding sparked a search for similar properties in other fungi and bacteria. From 1940 to 1960, known as the ‘Golden Era of Antibiotic Discovery’, most modern antibiotics such as streptomycin, tetracycline, rifampicin, and nalidixic acid were identified through natural product screening (Clardy et al., 2006; Lewis, 2013). However, the declaration that “it is time to close the book on infectious diseases and declare the war against pestilence won” proved to be premature (Davies & Davies, 2010). It was not a final victory but a fragile truce. In the ongoing war between humans and microbes—nature’s own creations—our successes are brief, and the microbial battleground keeps shifting. Bacteria’s genetic adaptability, coupled with human complacency, led to antimicrobial resistance (AMR), where microbes gradually evolved resistance to almost all known antibiotics (Ventola, 2015). Resistance appeared soon after antibiotics entered clinical use, but the emergence of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and extended-spectrum ß-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria marked major setbacks (Prestinaci et al., 2015; WHO, 2023). AMR gained global attention with the rise of pan-drug-resistant strains—resistant to all antibiotic classes—seen in Klebsiella (India), Acinetobacter, and Pseudomonas (China, Italy, Greece), and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB). Aquaculture is one of the sunrise sectors contributing a significant quantity to the global supply of fish for human consumption. Fish is a superior source of highquality animal protein and highly digestible energy. Disease problems in farmed fishes are one of the main barriers, resulting in significant financial losses up to a tune of US$2.48 B, 14.95% of the annual aquaculture production value in Indian aquaculture. In the aquatic environment, bacteria are quite prevalent and the majority of bacterial pathogens are found in the water’s natural flora. They only spread illness when poor husbandry practices, inadequate nutrition, and unfavourable environmental circumstances contribute to fish stress. Pathogenic bacteria, including Aeromonas spp, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus spp, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Yersinia enterocolitica, Clostridium botulinum, Plesiomonas shigelloides, and Listeria monocytogenes, can be either naturally present in fish or introduced to them during handling, processing, and storage. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Indian aquaculture presents a multifaceted and growing challenge at the intersection of public health, environmental sustainability, and food security. As aquaculture expands to meet rising global demands for protein, the sector has increasingly relied on antimicrobials to prevent and treat bacterial infections. However, due to some indiscriminate and unregulated use of these agents as well as the householdsewage, hospital effluents, contamination from agricultural wastes andinadequately treated urban waters that enter the aquaculture through drains and rivers,creates strong selective pressure and accelerate the development and dissemination of resistant pathogens in aquatic environments posing a serious threat not only to farmed fish but also to human health through environmental contamination and the broader food chain. Resistant bacteria and resistance genes can spread through water systems, biofilms, and aquaculture products, creating reservoirs that contribute to the broader One Health AMR crisis. Food borne pathogens (Aeromonas spp., Vibrio spp., and Streptococcus spp.) from aquatic animals were found resistant to antimicrobial agents that are relevant for therapeutic usage in human clinical settings. E. coliwas found to be resistant as a sign of possible human and terrestrial animal effects. Distinguishing resistance that has been selected in different sectors is extremely difficult and caution is needed while trying to attribute the source of antibiotic resistance in bacteria in the aquatic environment. Understanding the drivers, mechanisms, and impacts of AMR in aquaculture is essential for developing effective mitigation strategies and sustainable management practices that safeguard both aquatic and human health.

Introduction
The discovery of antibiotics in the early 20th century revolutionized medicine, agriculture, and public health. These compounds, capable of inhibiting or destroying pathogenic bacteria, not only saved millions of human lives but also transformed animal production systems by reducing morbidity and mortality, improving growth rates, and ensuring food security (Phillips et al., 2004). The application of antibiotics in food animals,whether for therapeutic, prophylactic, or growth-promoting purposes,has been instrumental in increasing global meat, milk, egg, and fish production, thus addressing the nutritional needs of a growing population (Darwish et al., 2013; Chen et al., 2019). However, the indiscriminate and excessive use of antibiotics in animal agriculture has created unintended consequences, most notably the presence of antibiotic residues in foods of animal origin and the global acceleration of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) (Bacanli & Basaran, 2019; Shahid et al., 2021). Antibiotic residues in food is the trace amounts of active compounds or its metabolites that remain in edible animal tissues, milk, eggs, and aquaculture products causes significant concerns for both consumer safety and public health. Even when below the maximum residue limits (MRLs) established by regulatory authorities, prolonged exposure may lead to allergic reactions, disruption of the gut microbiome, reproductive and developmental toxicity, mutagenicity, nephropathy, and in certain cases carcinogenicity (Ngangom et al., 2019; WHO, 2020). Furthermore, residues contribute to the selection pressure that drives the emergence and dissemination of resistant bacterial strains in humans, animals, and the environment (FAO, 2019; O’Neill, 2016). The One Health framework highlights these interconnected pathways, recognizing food as a critical link between veterinary antibiotic use and human AMR burden (Robinson et al., 2016). Globally, approximately 73% of antibiotics are consumed in food animal production, with projections estimating a further 11–67% increase by 2030,largely by intensification of livestock and aquaculture in developing economies (Van Boeckel et al., 2015; Tiseo et al., 2020). While industrialized nations have implemented bans on antibiotic growth promoters and introduced robust surveillance programs, most low- and-middle-income countries still facing challenges (Antibiotics, 2021; WHO, 2019). Consequently, foods containing antibiotic residues frequently enter local and international markets, undermining food safety standards and exacerbating AMR risks (Darwish et al., 2013; Antibiotics, 2021). Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has emerged as a major global public health crisis, directly causing an estimated 1.27 million deaths and contributing to nearly 5 million deaths worldwide in 2019. Recognizing its severity, the World Health Organization (WHO) has identified AMR as one of the top ten threats to global health(Murray et al., 2022). By 2050, global economic losses linked to AMR are projected to reach USD 100–210 trillion, with Asia bearing a disproportionate mortality burden (O’Neill, 2016). Countries like India, with large livestock populations, rapidly growing aquaculture industries, and high human antibiotic consumption, represent critical hotspots where food, health, and environmental risks intersect (Chauhan et al., 2018; ICMR, 2020). Given these alarming trends, understanding the occurrence, detection, and consequences of antibiotic residues in foods of animal origin is paramount. This chapter explores the co-relationship between origin of antibiotic residues and AMR, regulatory measures aimed to safeguard food safety and strategies for prevention and control, framed within the One Health approach.

Introduction
It is reasonable to consider that the history of humanity has been marked by two transformational revolutions: the cognitive revolution (35,000 to 70,000 years ago), when Homo sapiens began to manifest our capacity to abstract, imagine things that did not exist and give meaning to non-representational thoughts; the agricultural revolution (10,000 to 12,000 years ago), when Homo sapiens stopped being a hunter/collector to settle on land, cultivating the soil and raising domesticated animals. It was possibly the beginning of property ownership, monogamy, family and also when malaria, and other diseases more easily spread in communities, became consolidated as human diseases. It was with the cognitive revolution that things changed and our previously acquired abilities of creating images and dealing with abstract concepts started to push humankind to become the “Dominant Mammal” controlling all other animals and Earth’s environments. Progressively, man learned to work with wood, iron and all minerals extracted from the soil, produced clothes with leather and wool from animals, linen and cotton from plants, silk from insects, and latter from natural oils created arts, jewellery, dynamite, electricity, vaccines, transatlantic ships, locomotives, cars, computers, antibiotics, contraceptives, robots, portable cell phones, informatics, bioengineering, internet, artificial intelligence, social networks and many other innovations . Not surprisingly, conscious of all these attributes, man felt important, central and essential, falling into the temptation of judging himself a magnificent creature with all rights and that became deep rooted in some cultures. For the pleasure,comfort, sophistication and power, man interfered with and altered the environment in a so ambitious and predatory manner that he modified and compromised his and other species living conditions, causing also climate changes that threaten his own survival on the planet. With time, it became clear that, in addition to this entirely anthropocentric “Ego’s” point of view, there might be another perspective fromwhich one can perceive the world and interact with it. An ecological “Eco’s” perspective corresponds to a compassionate view (how can we contribute to the greater good and make the world a better place) of the Globe. After all the damage done to nature by man, moving from the socalled Ego to the Eco attitude became a mandatory needConcerning Global Health, for a long-time, human health has benefited by sacrificing the “health” of wild ecosystems (e.g., deforestation and conversion of wilderness to farmland, damming of water for irrigation, destruction of swamps and dislocation and jeopardy of wild species) which reflects a protectionist vs utilitarian conflict, over the question of whether to put human domination of the biosphere on hold or whether to embrace it .It hides unaddressed concerns about the value of (macroscopic) life (human, animal or plant), the definitions of health and wellbeing (human, animal, plant and environmental) and their relative importance. This has hampered the development and acceptance of a One Health (OH) understanding of Global Health.

Irrigation is key to stable agricultural production, especially in dry conditions. CSI aims to improve existing and new irrigation systems by incorporating climate-smart principles. While good irrigation infrastructure is essential, it’s not enough. Effective CSI also requires supportive policies, strong institutions, good water governance, secure land and water tenure, farmer knowledge, market access, and credit availability.

Introduction
Water is chemical substance which important for all living organism to survive on this planet. Water is necessary for all cell of the living organism’s body to performance any normal work. Water covers 71% of the Earth’s surface, most like in oceans and other more water bodies, with 1.6% of water below ground in aquifers and 0.001% in the air as vapors, clouds and precipitation. Some observation have estimated that by 2025 more than half of the world population will be facing water-based vulnerability, a situation which has been called a ‘water crisis’ by the United Nations. A recent report suggests that by 2030, in some developing regions of the world, water desire will be exceed supply by 50%. The total volume of water 1,385 million Km3 on the planet earth, 96.5% is salt water (oceans and seas), the fresh water is mostly ice (24 million Km3). The fresh water available as annual stream flow is 46,768 Km3, that is 0.00034% of the total global water. If there is no intake of water into the body, death can ensue in 7-10 days. Water is also essential to man for maintaining personal hygienic and freedom from disease. Today there are many cities worldwide facing actual shortage of water and nearly 40 percent of the world’s food supply is grown under irrigation and a wide variety of industrial processes depends on water. Water is the most vital element among the natural resources, and is critical for the survival of all living any organisms including human, food production, and economic development. The environment, economic growth and developments are highly affected by water is regional and seasonal availability and the quality of surface and groundwater. The quality of water is affected by any human activities and is declining due to the rise of urbanization, population growth, industrial production, climate change and other factors. The resulting water pollution is a serious surrounding to the well-being of both the Earth and its population. Large quantities of crop residues are produced and if properly used, they can provide cost effective means for supplying organic matter, plant nutrients and improved soil health. The highly lignocellulosic nature of crop residues indicate their potential role in maintaining soil organic matter and enriching the soils with N-rich microbial biomass resulting from decompositions. However, their indiscriminate handling often burning leads to decline in soil health, air pollution and overall loss. Since most crop residues find use as feed and fuel, efficient recycling of the remaining amount can have very significant
and positive effect.
The data regarding five major crops are shown. Even after use of some of them as animal feed they offer a great opportunity of using them back in to the soils which are hungry for organic carbon and other matters. Practice of Crop Residue Burning
The problem of collection and transport of crop residue and the short timebetween harvesting of one crop and making the farm free for the second crop has led to the harmful practices of crop residue burning. If instead of burning it, the residues can be incorporated into soils, a host of heterotrophic microorganisms bring about minor discharge of carbon and other elements contained in plant residues. Introduction 
A broad definition of bioprocessing is the process of creating a valuable product from a live source. The system’s most important element is that the source organism is living and sensitive to its surroundings. Accordingly, the framework states that it will respond to relatively small changes in its physico-chemical environment by modifying its physiology to maximise efficiency. The use of entire cells and enzymes to catalyse bioprocesses in industrial settings is becoming more popular these days than conventional chemical synthetic methods. Among the many benefits of biotransformations in this context are their extensive substrate portfolio (including liquid, solid, and gas waste), one-pot reactions in mild circumstances and environmental friendliness. However, a number of drawbacks, including the unstable nature of biocatalysts and subpar performance in specific reaction conditions, the low solubility of some substrates in the reaction medium, substantial production expenses brought on by intricate downstream processing and product isolation and the lack of expertise in microbiology or bioprocess design, frequently make it difficult to scale up bioprocesses from the lab to the manufacturing facility. There is a growing need for innovative bioprocesses that can get over the aforementioned obstacle in industrial and environmental biotechnology in order to create effective, sustainable, and affordable processes. As a result, the industrial sector requires new methods that use biocatalysts that are highly active and stable under a variety of reaction conditions (typically accomplished through metabolic engineering), boost feedstock utilisation by using inexpensive waste resources, use green chemistry solutions that enable the use of fewer toxic solvents and reagents, or develop cost-effective biorefinery concepts that can transform industrial waste and byproducts into products with added value, thereby establishing new value chains. Figure 1.1 shows the three stages of a typical bioprocess: upstream processing, bioreaction and downstream processing which includes separation and purification steps. Every stage of these phases offers multiple chances to enhance a certain bioprocess.

5.1 Introduction
Bioprocess engineering is becoming more advanced form of technology due to the many changes taking place in the field. The world is in dire need for creative, well thought out, and innovative approaches to problems associated with sustainable biomanufacturing, treatment customization, and the production of bio-based goods. One of the most notable advancements is the rise of synthetic biology, which allows for bioproduction at unprecedented levels where microbes could be modified for better bioproduction. More traditional approaches is strain improvement and metabolic engineering, which revolve around mutation-based processes and other forms of gene transfer technologies. The applications of new, non-traditional methods such as machine learning and artificial intelligence have completely revolutionized the way bioprocessing and its monitoring, as well as optimization, is done. On top of that, the drive towards sustainability has further motivated the use of green bioprocessing techniques which aim to minimize environmental harm. In parallel with these advances, regenerative medicine and gene treatment is opening doors to a new era of personalized medicine. In a world where change is constant, these accomplishments and innovations help us to take full advantage of what bioprocess engineering has to offer, as well as face the intricate challenges that the modern world encounters (Awasthi, 2022). In recent years, the field of biotechnology has undergone transformative and profound change that is marked by new breakthroughs and improvement which can affect several fields such as medicine, agriculture, and ecology. The emergence of tools like CRISPR-Cas9, synthetic biology, bioprinting, precision medicine and regenerative medicine are some of the new trends in biotechnology. These changes are recognizing the limits on the biological sciences and expanding them at the same time. Synthetic biology is another technology that includes the strategy and production of new genomic parts, related tools, and re-designs of traditional ones for valuable purposes. The scientists are modifying living organisms to perform useful functions like manufacturing biofuels or pharmaceuticals. Synthetic biology raises concerns about biosecurity and the unintentional release of artificial organisms into the environment, despite its enormous potential to address global challenges like renewable energy and sustainable resource usage (Jain, 2022). This article introduces advancements in bioprocess engineering with specific focus on advancements brought about by emergence of CRISPR. Bioprocess engineering is the application of process engineering principles to biological systems and has been a multidisciplinary field unto itself. Since its isolation as a groundbreaking genome-editing system, CRISPR has vastly improved the precision, efficiency, and scalability of both microbial and mammalian cell manipulation. This has resulted in numerous breakthroughs in pharmaceuticals, biofuels, and industrial enzymes, a major milestone for synthetic biology, and metabolic engineering (Jinek et al., 2012). The CRISPR revolution has changed

7.1 Introduction 
The global economy of today magnifies the extend and scope of product safety issues for a wide range of items, from food and medicine to consumer goods, medical devices, and automobiles (Marucheck et al., 2011). Industrial globalization has raised awareness of the many risks and vulnerabilities that goods face as they move through the supply chain, from design and sourcing to manufacturing, shipping, distribution, and ultimate sale to the end user (Milovanovi? et al., 2017). These challenges necessitate the implementation of reliable and sustainable methods for producing goods. This can be achieved via biorefineries, which may reduce supply chain disruptions while promoting environmentally friendly resource utilization. Biorefineries are usually referred to as first and second generation biorefineries with accordance to the raw material utilized. The former uses food crop as raw material wherein the latter utilizes lignocellulosic and agricultural residues as raw material for generation of value-added products (Guo et al., 2015). Additionally, algae biomass is utilized in the third generation biorefineries (Parajuli et al., 2015). However, among these three the first generation are the most established while the second and third are still developing at various stages due to technical and economic challenges (Gerssen-Gondelach et al., 2014). Globally, ethanol biorefinery processing U.S. corn and Brazilian sugarcane dominate production contributing 52% and 28%, respectively (Renewable Fuels Association, 2023). These biorefineries are further distinguished based on categories such as sugars, oils and syngas which serve as key intermediates in production of bioethanol, glycerol or lactic acid (Calvo-Flores and Martin- Martinez, 2022). Additionally, these biorefineries utilizes feedstock and residues which can be derived from forest, sugar crops and oil crops. The processing technologies employing for utilization of such raw material are fermentation, gasification and pyrolysis. This configuration of biorefinery determines the integration and systematic pathway from raw feedstock to final product (Aristizábal?Marulanda et al., 2019). Furthermore, both the supply chain and value chain are significant part of biorefineries. The value chain stands for the value-oriented aspect of the process which is often derived by customer demand and include product innovation, marketing and value development (Sharma et al., 2013). In contrast, the supply chain focuses on the logistical flow of materials, encompassing the movement of raw materials from suppliers to end consumers. However, certain stages of supply chain overlap with biorefinery systems such as separate pretreatment and fermentation facilities (Sutduean et al., 2019). The design of biorefinery system involves a structural decision process at strategic, tactical and operational levels. These decisions are made with respect to various biohazards at each level. The macro-level strategic decisions, address long-term risk mitigating strategies to ensure overall safety (Chaturvedi et al., 2020). Once the high-level decisions are established, tactical and operational decisions are implemented. The tactical decisions focus on implementing safety measures with processes such as handling hazardous materials and optimizing biorefinery. While

At its core, motivation encompasses the internal processes that energize, direct, and sustain human behavior over time. The term derives from the Latin word “movere,” meaning to move, which aptly captures its fundamental purpose of propelling individuals from a state of rest to purposeful activity. Contemporary organizational psychology defines motivation as the willingness to exert high levels of effort toward organizational goals, conditioned by the effort’s ability to satisfy individual needs. The essential elements of motivation form an interconnected system that transforms latent potential into observable behavior. The integration of all components of community mobilization for natural farming represents a complex, multidimensional process that requires systematic coordination across social, institutional, technological, and economic domains to create coherent and sustainable agricultural transformation. This integration transcends simple coordination of activities to encompass the development of synergistic relationships between different mobilization elements that collectively enhance the effectiveness, sustainability, and scalability of natural farming adoption while building resilient communities capable of ongoing innovation and adaptation. Systems thinking approaches provide the conceptual foundation for integration by recognizing that community mobilization components function as interconnected elements within broader social-ecological systems rather than isolated interventions. This perspective emphasizes understanding the relationships, feedback loops, and emergent properties that arise from component interactions while designing interventions that strengthen system coherence and resilience. Systems approaches require analyzing how training programs, institutional support, communication strategies, and policy frameworks influence each other

Biotic interferences refer to the detrimental effects of living organisms on cultivated crops, leading to reduced yield, quality, or even complete crop failure. The three main categories are pests, diseases, and weeds (Fig. 3.1).

Despite its potential, it raises ethical, safety, and regulatory concerns, including the long-term effects of nanoparticles on health and the environment. The lack of standardized regulations poses challenges for the safe deployment of nanotechnology in various applications. In agriculture, it facilitates the development of nanofertilizers and nano-pesticides, which improve nutrient delivery and reduce environmental impact. Recent research in India highlights the promising use of nano-bionoculants—nano-formulated bio-fertilizers that enhance plant growth and soil health by encapsulating beneficial microbes. Studies have shown that combining nanomaterials with bioinoculants can significantly improve crop yields and resilience to stress, indicating a shift towards sustainable agricultural practices. While these formulations offer promising solutions for sustainable agriculture, their environmental implications require careful evaluation due to the inclusion of engineered nanomaterials. This chapter critically examines the environmental impact of nano-bioinoculants, focusing on their interactions with soil, water, air, plants, and higher trophic levels. The mechanisms governing nanoparticle behavior in soil matrices, effects on indigenous microbial communities, potential for bioaccumulation and trophic transfer, and risks of aquatic and atmospheric contamination are discussed. Positive environmental outcomes, including reduced dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, improved soil health, enhanced nutrient use efficiency, and increased plant resilience to abiotic stresses, are highlighted alongside potential risks such as microbial disruption, nanoparticle persistence, oxidative stress induction, and long-term ecological uncertainty.
